Is BPC-157 Banned by WADA for Athletes?

Yes. BPC-157 was added to the World Anti-Doping Agency's Prohibited List in 2022 under category S0 โ€” Non-Approved Substances, and it is banned at all times, both in and out of competition, for any athlete under WADA jurisdiction.

The S0 category exists specifically for substances that have no current approval by any government health authority for human therapeutic use โ€” meaning BPC-157's designation reflects its regulatory status (an unapproved, unlicensed compound) rather than a specific performance-enhancing finding. There are no Therapeutic Use Exemptions available for S0 substances, and its presence in a sample can lead to disqualification and sanctions regardless of intent.

This restriction extends beyond WADA-code sports โ€” the NFL and UFC, among other major professional leagues, separately prohibit BPC-157 under their own testing policies. Anyone competing under any tested governing body should treat BPC-157 (and the Wolverine blend that contains it) as strictly off-limits, independent of its research use elsewhere.
